That's what's happening at our end as well -- too many cooks running
around trying to contribute to the recipe, and nobody really wants to
admit to being in charge of this aspect of it because they don't really
understand the hosting process.
The new Acting LocSec wants to get everything straightened out, at
least, and that's a good sign. (Then we'll have to come up with
something to prevent future confusions, but that's for another day.)
Jim, you must have had an initial request -- who was that from? What
was the date of the request?
By way of explanation --
We have a fairly new transfer-in member named Jason Schmitz. Earlier
this year he was designated as the "webmaster" for doing a completely
separate website dealing with MN Mensa's hosting of next year's national
Annual Gathering (for all of Mensa and Mensa Canada, too, so it's a big
deal for us). So far so good.
Late last month, the MN Mensa board was seriously considering making him
the Webmaster for our main website that you're hosting. He may have
requested the transfer under the belief that he had been authorized to
do so.
However, the Acting LocSec told me on the phone this afternoon that
there will be a board meeting tomorrow and he's looking at a 4-3 (or
better) vote to keep me on as Webmaster for the main site.
If that's the case, I certainly won't want the domain moved.
So if it was Jason who requested the move, we need to establish that
(since he may have had reason to feel that he had the authorization at
the time, he won't get dumped on for doing so).
If someone else made the first request, then I'll pass that to the
Acting LocSec and he can call around and see if it was Jason's idea, or
was dreamed up by someone else.
At any rate, you probably shouldn't listen to anybody until after
tomorrow's board meeting!
Any word you get from me will be technically accurate; anything you get
from Paul Jensen (the Acting LocSec) will be the law of our land if
necessary.
So let me know the initial source and date of that move request, if you
would, and just stand by while we sort it out.
Thanks.
Al
