Please open it when it arrives.

I found the envelope in my P.O. Box at about 4:20 (*CDT*) on what is now
yesterday (Thursday, 9/14/06). Thank you again.

Please note the appearance of this envelope, a scan of which is at
http://www.millcityrecords.com/mndensa/aml02-env.htm.

It is Mensa business sent in an envelope with the Mensa logo and address
in the upper left corner. The address label appears to have been
generated from the AML member database (membership number, the formal
version of my name as only in said database), thus giving the
impression that all members (or a subset) were receiving this, but the
added label saying "IMPORTANT OPEN IMMEDIATELY" -- also manually
highlighted -- supersedes that perception.

This is (finally) a good example of what I've been talking about all
along.

This is what a "reasonable person" would expect a Mensa mailing
concerning Mensa business to look like; this is what *I* would expect a
Mensa mailing concerning Mensa business to look like.

If all mailings pertinent to this case had been sent in an envelope
looking just like this one (allowing for different envelope sizes
appropriate to the content), I would have opened them immediately, and
you would have long since ago have received my vigorous defense to these
trumped-up phony charges.

(Compare and contrast with
http://www.millcityrecords.com/mndensa/remine01-env.htm
http://www.millcityrecords.com/mndensa/remine02-env.htm
http://www.millcityrecords.com/mndensa/remine03-env.htm)

At any rate, the scan of the envelope I received yesterday should allow
us all to mutually stipulate that I have been (finally) "served" with
the charges and exhibits.

So far, I have had only a chance to glance over the contents of that
envelope. In the interest of having a "fair and impartial" hearing, I
do need a reasonable amount of time to categorize the contents into the
basic categories of innuendo, misrepresentation, false
characterizations, outright lies, and willful omission of pertinent
information, among other things.

And do keep in mind that Article IX (5) of the American Mensa Bylaws
guarantees me the right to be present at any hearing so that I may
exercise my right to present my case.

A hearing on these charges scheduled for somewhere between 30-60 days
from my receiving a copy of the charges (which I now have) would seem to
comply with the requirement that I be given a "fair and impartial"
hearing.

As I wrote previously, this would afford me the opportunity to give the
Hearings Committee a vigorous defense to the charges, along with a
factual narration of what's really been going on with Minnesota Mensa,
along with time for the HC to e-mail me any particular questions to
which I will promptly respond.

Sincerely,

Al Heigl

Webmaster,
Minnesota Mensa
