Uh, since the registration is proper, and correct, and the way I want
it, wouldn't I also want it locked up nice and tight so it can't be
changed? Let's lock it up for the next five or ten years. Or is this
like the Tar Baby story -- "Oh, please, don't lock the domain name!
Anything but that!"

thinking that you live in a world filled with people just praying for
chances for them to attempt satisfying your every request. Sadly, you
are very low on the list of the world's priorities. (Free hint -- you'd
have better luck with requests that are more intelligent, reasonable,
and appropriate.)

It's perfectly acceptable to me, which is what counts around here these
days.

I'm sure Pam will be pleased that you put her in the category of
"despite-able" and that you, not she, is in charge of her office.

I actually spent over half an hour at the AML website
(http://us.mensa.org/) searching for some indication that you hold a
leadership position with American Mensa, Ltd. and can therefore call the
shots. No such luck. I can find no evidence that you are in charge of
AML.

(What's more, I'm at a loss for finding any evidence that you're even a
*member* of Mensa, and a growing list of reasons to suspect that you
would not qualify for membership.)

> my request was quite specific.

It was also moronic and inappropriate. To quote D.W., you are not the
boss of me, and I don't believe that you are the boss of Pam Donahoo.
What she wrote stands, I consider it highly out of line for you to
attempt to trump her, and actually, she got what she asked for.

Yes, you did.  Incredibly poor judgment on your part.

You failed to notice that I gave you absolutely no indication that I
would go along with such idiocy. If you review my replies (available on
the Internet if not readily to hand for you), you will note that I
consistently referred to Pam's letter and nothing else. Also, I hardly
consider my doing what is right and appropriate to be "straying" -- if
you approach all of your projects from that highfalutin standpoint, you
will find life to be quite frustrating.

Yes. I am the Webmaster for Minnesota Mensa. Quite appropriate.

Neither have you.

That is *your* opinion, which is flawed, faulty, and reveals ignorance
of the whole situation.

(You should have written "of which" -- you have poor grammar skills,
too, in addition to a lack of attention to details.)

You have made a false statement in your opinion. I was also the
original Webmaster of Minnesota Mensa; I set up the first domain name
and created our website. I was fully authorized to register the domain
name (mnmensa.org) and it was "in my name" for over four years without
anyone raising any complaints.

During the summer of 2002, I was rather "tricked" into relinquishing
control over that domain name, and within 24 hours, an utter incompetent
had totally destroyed our website. I do not intend to be tricked again,
by you or anybody else that I have reason to distrust.

Here's the real "main issue" we have here:

Had you done even the least due diligence background investigation, you
would have seen that I now have a signed written agreement with
Minnesota Mensa establishing (re-establishing, actually) me as our
Webmaster. This took the Webmaster position from "volunteer" status to
"contract vendor" status, and put my relationship with Minnesota Mensa
under Minnesota and federal contract law.

The agreement can be seen at
http://www.millcityrecords.com/mndensa/agreement.htm and the
authorization for it is at
http://www.millcityrecords.com/mndensa/emails/ag-email46.htm.

The fact that a couple of malcontents and malfeasors on the Board have
chosen to fight Minnesota Mensa's compliance with this agreement and
hassle me instead does not change the validity of this agreement.

Most to the point, I have fully complied with my side of the agreement,
and I intend to in the future, no matter what obstacles I have to
overcome, until one of the following two conditions are met:

1. Minnesota Mensa and I sign a subsequent written agreement
modifying or ending the terms of the first one; or

2. I die.

Unless your real intention is to simply run up the bill for Mensa, you
would be well advised to tell Pam Donahoo that the proper way to deal
with this situation is to work with Minnesota Mensa and me to resolve
the underlying situation.

Ooh, an ultimatum. Sounds like grade school. Anyway, feel free to give
me years or even decades, I still won't do something that's wrong.

The "information below" is silly, inappropriate, and not worth including
in this reply. Internet readers of this message can read it in your
previous e-mail.

> Feel free to let me know earlier if you have no intention of complying

I would consider meeting you half-way, given more time.

How about if I request a delay until:

1. You browse to http://www.millcityrecords.com/mndensa/domains/, where

2. You will see a list of 21 local Mensa groups (as I write this), none
of which have their domain names registered to American Mensa, Ltd.

3. Pay particular attention to the asterisked ones (click on any
asterisk) -- you will see that SEVEN local groups have domain names that
aren't even registered to the local group.

4. If you can first convince EVERY ONE of those other 19 local group
Webmasters to transfer their domain names to American Mensa, Ltd. (per
your "request" and also especially including what is now a rogue site,
mnmensa.org), then you have my word that I will not be the sole
hold-out.

5. However, it will also be a condition for my doing the transfer that
American Mensa, Ltd., in addition to taking over the minnesotamensa.org
domain name, will also assume the signed written agreement I have with
Minnesota Mensa, and will put in writing beforehand that AML will fully
honor Minnesota Mensa's side of that agreement. (Which will mean I will
continue to have control over minnesotamensa.org PLUS assume control of
mnmensa.org.)

> I will be sure
> to pass your intentions on to American Mensa and Ms. Donahoo.

Like I indicated above, your best chance to come out of this smelling
like a rose is to pass on to Pam Donahoo the wisdom that it is high time
she offered to intervene directly in the ongoing dispute between the few
malcontents at Minnesota Mensa and me, and work to resolve the basic
underlying issues.

Otherwise, and as matters now stand, my "intentions" are to continue to
fully honor my side of the signed written agreement I have with
Minnesota Mensa (until it is superseded by a subsequent signed written
agreement, or my demise), and to be the best Webmaster possible under
extremely adverse circumstances.

So you can choose to be part of the solution, recommending to Pam that
she offer to assist with the underlying issues here at Minnesota Mensa,
or you can choose to continue hassling me, which makes you part of the
problem. And as you have no doubt figured out, "the problem" is being
posted in its entirety on the Internet, and it seems to me that this
will hardly enhance the image/reputation of Mensa, or Venable for that
matter.
