Paul Jensen

Job Related:

The main job duty of the First Vice Secretary is having the Annual Business Meeting. Attendance has declined while Paul has had the job. The last meeting, there were no donuts or anything to drink, as has always been the practice. When I was 1st Vice, we had meetings where we could bring drinks in, have lunch served and were free of charge. For instance in 1999, we went to the Penn Lake Library. There we served a Continental Breakfast and had lunch brought in by Wally's. In 2001, we were at the party room at Judy & Andy's, where we had lunch brought in also. Another year, we had a room at a college in St. Paul. Our lunch was served along with the students for a reasonable rate. One year, we had the meeting at a room in the restaurant, where we had lunch. After lunch, Echo Bodine came in and talked to us, which was great!

For the AG Minnesota Mensa did, all the Hospitality Chair heard was, "Do I have to work with Paul Jensen?" Once Andy assured them that Paul had nothing to do with hospitality, then the volunteers would sign up.

Paul Jensen had to be reminded many times that he was in charge of Mensabucks. Even though he has been given a policy, he still needs to be reminded to do this every year.

In the 2003 CAP submissions, the one for Nova Academy should not have been submitted. Minnesota Mensa did not have the visibility that was shown in the CAP statement. Since I used to run that National CAP Program, I know that this submission should not be made. This is not a CAP project. At any rate, the Nova Academy did not appeal to a great number of Mensa members or their children. It's also not raising the bar in education, like it was promised. After Cyndi called me and questioned the eligibility on this project, she told me to read it. She did submit it to her judges and they voted on the assumptions that were made in the write up. If I ever had to sign a CAP project for Paul again, I would read it carefully, before it was signed and sent on.

In the 2003 Proctor Submission for Paula LeCocq, again, I was called again on the veracity of the write up by Paul Jensen.

On July 28, 2004, I received a phone call (and email) form Paige Faulkner with National. For the June testing sessions that Paul did (June 10th and 12th), the tests were mailed very late. They had tried, along with Cyndi to reach Paul, but to no avail. Finally, they were able to reach him and he told them that he had misplaced the tests. The National office received these tests on July 27th. The National Office reimbursed the people that took that test $ 30 along with a letter of apology. In a follow up call with Cyndi Kuyper, this was not the first time that time had happened. It amazed Cyndi that an award winning proctor did this, since she said that none of the other groups misplaced tests.

In 2004, I received an anonymous call (I do not have caller ID and this person would not identify himself). He told me that Paul had talked to him and told him not to volunteer for the State Fair. I assured him that he must of heard wrong and to please sign up, which he did. After the board let Andrew Tighe go as State Fair Coordinator, I received a long statement from Andrew Tighe that told that Paul Jensen had worked against him as State Fair Coordinator.

Paul has also been the reason that Judy Hogan left the board of directors and Karin Jones left her position. (See attached emails to me why that they quit.) Now it's me.

Personally:

Paul Jensen would call me all the time and talk to me. He would denigrate and put down other people in Mensa. Minnesota Mensa members such as Gordon Andersen, Judy Hogan, Karin Jones, Michelle Tighe, Jane Gmur and many others. For instance, he spent many conversations with me about Judy. He told me how underhanded and sneaky she is. He was referring the 1st Vice Election. He told me that Judy has spent hours on a phone campaign to get him out of office. When I asked her, she could only think of one call that she mentioned it. There was no campaign of the sort. He also slammed Gordon and not only with me. He told people nationally things about him. Paul put down Gordon by saying how old he was and how he didn't know everything he said that he did. After listening to all of this and telling him how wrong he was, finally I'd had enough. So I told him that he could not talk about my friends like this. All the while he was tearing those people down, he was also tearing me down. Telling me that I lacked intelligence and trying to get me to tell him what my IQ is (which is not anyone's business). Then telling me that I'm too old and wasn't effective any longer for Minnesota Mensa. Then he told me that I was losing my looks. Finally he told me that the only reason that I was Loc Sec was because I used to attend Sorta Single Saturdays. Then he stopped calling me.

When I talked to Gordon, Ken, Bill, Mary or Marion, our calls were always pleasant, friendly and covered the business that needed to be covered.

Now maybe you'll understand why I'm doing what I'm doing here. I just can't stand working with him at all any longer.
